4WD Training Day
interest in this one was huge. Excellent...

West Coast 4x4 and the Nissan 4WD Owners Club of WA ran a training day on the dunes near Lancelin for novice 4WD'ers. I personally think that everyone had a great day and for one, I had a fantastic time helping out.

I'm not going to list all the participants, even those from the club - just about everyone was there plus another 36 (at last count) cars who had come to be guided around the dunes. We had two assembly points - one at the Tenth Light Horse trail just north of Wanneroo and the other at the Lancelin bakery. Cars started gathering at the Tenth Light Horse at around 7:30AM. We sent everyone off in bunches to Lancelin where we joined up with everyone else from the bakery. I was assisting Ed give a chat about sand driving. Once he had finished talking, we jumped into the participants cars and showed them around a course we had specced out the week before. With a couple of groups we had heaps of time left so we took them (as one group) through another trek we found around the back of the dunes.

These pictures are of the various groups we had through: While ferrying people to the next section (hill ascents and descents) I took a couple of pictures of participants having fun. During the day, the ladies ran a great sausage sizzle for lunch and afterwards we went back out for more driving. At the end of the day we attempted to line up all the cars for one big picture. This was a challenge and there are better pictures at the other sites listed above. But, here's mine anyway... After this, we packed up and headed home. Apparently there is another training day taking place on the 9th of June because interest in this one was huge. Excellent...
