Given the recent rains McGyver decided to check out the Powerlines track to see what the mud was like. A fun day out - with the damage being a 200 series CV joint and a bit of a bent panel on a Jeep from side-steps being squeezed.

Took a friend and his two kids (hello to Charlie and Ali) for a very fast-moving trip along the powerlines. Nothing of interest until we were pulled up by a guy who admitted he "had done something dumb". Turns out, he had.

Some photos I found that I hadn't put up. Another CanTeen trip - not many photos from this one. This was a half-day trip to Wilbinga.

July Powerlines Run

I hadn't been out in a long time - Macca posted a trip so out we went into the hills for a slippery afternoon. Only took a couple of photos and a few videos as there was only three of us.

It was very slippery out there

And it was also slippery up the hill...

Wilbinga Cruise

McGyver put on a short trip up to Wilbinga and given that my afternoon got rearranged to suit I decided to attend. Nothing exciting - just most of the West Coast 4x4 gang out for a drive before heading off to a special club meeting. Once through the dunes we had a bit of a play.

Afternoon Powerlines Run

With a bit of pressure from everyone, we decided to head out to the powerline track again. It had been raining for most of the week so it was quite slipperly - all the better for more fun! We started from the western end of the track - Scam joined us after (and I quote) "busting a gut to get there" - he took up the tail end.

Jim suggested that we spend the day in the sand so off to Lancelin we went with Mel and Julian in tow. It was a very windy day (as evidenced by the amount of sand blowing in the air and the sand I had left over in the car at the end) but a lot of fun was had. My camera filled up with sand halfway through the day and is now junk so no photos from the rest of the day...

JOCWA Trackcare Day

I got a call from Froggy very late on Saturday asking if I could act as his chauffeur on Sunday. Seeing as I had screwed up the dates for Macca's mud run on Saturday, I agreed. The deal was that we would head down to Harvey to meet with JOCWA to talk about and see the track they are interesting in adopting on behalf of Track Car...

Powerlines Cleanup

West Coast 4x4 is responsible for a section of the powerlines track from Mundaring to Flynn Rd. Today we were out picking up rubbish, dragging out wrecked car bodies and generally making sure the track was in good condition.

CanTeen Trip 2009

This year we just had a day trip for the CanTeen crew - Froggy took us out to Wilbinga and we had a bit of play in the dunes.

No dramas this year - we had one tyre roll off a rim but luckily not during a turn - Ozzie just hit a bit of a ridge and the tyre popped off. Of interest were the other idiots out there.

One guy in an older Jeep Cherokee was trying to climb a dune that had a bit of a sharp angle of entry to it at the bottom. He hit it at speed, bashed in the f...

Training Day

Froggy from Ultimate 4WD Training invited my out for the second day of his weekend training session. My parents were out for the weekend with him along with Lucas (in a TJ Wrangler) and Andrew (in a JK Wrangler Unlimited). Pera and Bronky were also along for the ride. We met at the lakes and headed into the Wandoo area.

Powerlines Trip

Again, off to the powerlines. I hadn't been out in quit some time so it isn't like this is a monthly destination or anything. This time our main purpose was to let Jim test out his new Discovery 3. I let Gerry drive the Jeep most of the way so I could jump out and take (some) photos and (mostly) videos. There are lots of videos on this page so it make take a while to load... The first climb was relatively easy - a few ruts to contend with......

Charity Convoy for SIDS

This was being run by Western Patrol Club so we went along. No big story - we started in Joondalup and went down to the Motorplex in Kwinana.

CanTeen 2008

Yet another excellently organised CanTeen trip - this time down to Pemberton. My thanks to Froggy (and the rest of the WC4x4 crew) for our side of the organising and to Renee at CanTeen. We drove down on Friday night, got up on a very chilly Saturday morning and then picked up the CanTeen crew. Some blurry photos from our accomodation: On our way to pick up everyone I stoped to take a snap of the valley... We wandered through the forest for a while - eventually ending up at the Centenn...

Powerlines Trip

Laz invited everyone out for a run down the powerlines so I grabbed Gerry (and the Jeep with the newly installed OME lift kit) and we headed off. Things were kind of quiet at the beginning but after lunch it got better... After wandering around for a while (and visiting the lane of sacrificed teddy bears) we had some lunch and hit the end of the powerline track. Some fun was had...

Overnight Camping at Lake Brockman

Anna and I decided to spend a Saturday night down at Lake Brockman with Ken, Judy, Roger and Robin. We drove down on Saturday morning after our de rigeur morning ride (80 kms through the Perth hills); spent the afternoon wandering through the Harvey hills; had a swim in the Logue Brook Dam; enjoyed some excellent company and got some good advice (thanks, Rodgebone, I'll keep it in mind!) over dinner on Saturday night and then returned to Perth on Sunday morning. Jeep Day in Harvey

The invitation was sent out so I went. Off to Harvey with the AusJeepOffRoad gang. Two Wrangler JKs (one diesel, and mine) and a bunch of modified Wrangler TJs. Fun stuff! Gerry came with me - and apart from getting whiplash bouncing over some ruts it was all good. ;-) Gathering in Harvey. First stop - top of Hitchhiker. We aired down and disconnected the appropriate linkages. Then we were off. K...

4WD Training in the Wilbinga Dunes

Geoff Couper (aka Froggy to those in the know) from Ultimate 4WD Training invited me along on his sand training course. I had recommended Froggy to Debbie (otherwise know as Mischif on the Jeep forum) - she was there today with a bunch of other great people including some tourists from Holland who had just purchased a HJ60 four days ago to ...

Random Photos

A few photos of my Jeep when brand new. Finally - the ARB rear bar arrived. It came with a relocation bracket to put the rear number plate up out of the way. I followed some advice on AusJeepOffroad and made a do-it-myself grill for the Jeep. Doesn't look too bad. My AEV front bar arrived. Ben and I spent the day putting it on. Hard work. But worth it. Now, I need spotties and probably a winch. ...

Jeep Fight Club

Rodgebone from AusJeepOffRoad decided that an event like "Jeep Fight Club" was in order. So, we gathered the troops and headed off to the powerlines. It was a pretty wet and wild day but lots of fun was had. Many pictures and videos below - my camera ran out of batteries about 3/4 of the way through. Gathering in Midland. Airing down near Sawyers Valley. Headed up the first climb. A short stop while trying to find Murray... Flex text! Off...
